  • Callout 709

    Lifeboats tasked at 11:15 to 2 persons stranded on Coney island as their vessel had mechanical issues. Our lifeboat proceeded to Coney island and assessed the persons and the vessel.
    Due to the adverse weather conditions it was decided to take the persons off the island and bring them to the shore in Maghery. An assessment would be made as to if it would be possible tow the vessel safely to Maghery due to the weather conditions and depth of entry to the shore.
    With the 2 persons brought safely to shore and handed into the care of the Lough Neagh Coastguard team it was decided that the vessel could be brought to Maghery also. Our crew proceeded back to the island, rigged a tow and brought the casualty vessel safely to the shore in Maghery.
    The Lifeboat returned to base and made ready for the next tasking.

    Lifeboats paged at 20:50 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a 24ft vessel with 4 persons on board which had suffered electrical failure within the Antrim Bay. A tow was established and the vessel was towed to Antrim Marina.
    Lifeboat’s back on station, refuelled and ready for service.

    LNR paged at 16:01 and tasked to a broken down cruiser with 1 adult and 3 children on board drifting south of Ardboe point.
    The vessel was quickly located and after assessment a tow commenced with 1 crew member on board the casualty vessel. The vessel was brought safely to the Battery harbour and handed into the care of our awaiting shore crew.

    LNR tasked at 20:23 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a broken down vessel on the Blackwater River
    Lifeboats launched along with van and small boats. After entering the Maghery canal and onto the Blackwater river the lifeboat was able to pick up the casualty vessel half way between the motorway bridge and Maghery.
    2 people on board where taken to the lifeboat while a crew member remained on the broken down vessel and was able to get a tow line in place
    They commenced a tow back to Maghery slipway and handed over to the Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team.
    Lifeboats returned to base at 22:30 refuelled and made ready for next tasking.


  • Callout 705

    LNR paged @21:09 on Sept 12th by CGOC Belfast Coastguard and tasked to 7 people onboard two vessels aground at Coney Island
    Lifeboats and shore crew quickly launched and proceeded to the area, after a quick search they located the stricken vessels in the Coney Flat area
    The vessels where approximately in 1-2ft of water making access very difficult with an onshore wind added to the equation creating a lot of swell but where able to make contact and assess both casualty and vessels were OK.
    We carried out a lee shore rescue with two crew entering the water and where able to get a tow rigged on the first vessel with 3 casualties and brought to safety in Maghery to awaiting shore crew and Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team.
    Decision was made to launch our swift water boat from the slip at Maghery to assist with bringing casualty’s off the other vessel. With conditions being challenging this was not an easy task
    Once in position our Milpro boat was able to pick up the casualties and transferred another 4 people to the main lifeboat to be taken to safety in Maghery slipway
    When all casualties where safe and accounted for our boats proceeded back out to attempt and remove the vessel from rocks, after a lot of effort our crews were able to get the vessel floating and commenced a tow back to Maghery, once vessel was tied up our crew proceeded back to base
    Boat and van back in base at 04:00 and refuelled for next tasking.

    LNR tasked at 12:49 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to reports of an inflatable kayak with two children onboard that was getting blown out from the shore
    Lifeboats quickly launched but where stood down as the children were able to paddle safely back to shore.
    We would like to thank the member of the public who raised the alarm as you can never be to sure of the situation and it’s better to have alerted the coastguard sooner rather than later
    Boats returned to base and made ready for next tasking.

    LNR tasked at 20:25 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a 2m inflatable boat with 3 persons onboard having engine failure
    Our lifeboats quickly located the casualty vessel near Tolan’s flat and took the 3 people onboard who were quite cold, they transferred them to Gawley’s Gate and handed into the care of the Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team
    Our other lifeboat on scene was able to tow the 2m vessel ashore where it was safely tied up at Gawley’s gate.
    We would like to thank the member of the public who also alerted the coastguard.

    Lifeboat’s tasked at 23:05 to reports of a missing person believed to have entered the Six Mile Water.

    Update Sunday 30th August
    LNR and other statutory agencies under the direction of PSNI/POLSA have been heavily involved for the last 7 days in an ongoing search for a missing person who is believed to have entered the Six Mile Water in Antrim
    After conducting extensive search operations this afternoon our crews located a body and had the difficult task of recovering it from the water.
    LNR wishes to place on record our sincere thanks to all our agency colleagues involved for all the hard work, dedication and commitment throughout the search operation.
    The Board of Directors and Volunteers of LNR wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased.

    LNR tasked at 12:17 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to reports of a vessel aground within the Scady area of Toome.
    Once on scene is was established the vessel in question wasn’t in any danger and was looking for items lost a few weeks previous.
    Lifeboat’s returned to base and made ready for service at 14:00.

    LNR Tasked at 13:03 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a sailing vessel taking on water with two persons on board.
    Lifeboats launched and quickly located the vessel, once along side they were able to carry out an inspection to make sure vessel was okay to be towed safely.
    Once a tow was set up they proceeded back to Kinnego Marina to the awaiting Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team and tied the vessel up along side jetty
    Boats returned to base and made ready for next tasking.

    Tasked at 10:47 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a vessel run aground with two persons onboard.
    Lifeboats’ launched and quickly located the vessel which was in extremely shallow water.
    The crew had to carry out a lee-shore rescue which involves the crew entering the water and swimming to the stricken vessel with the tow rope.
    Once tow line was secured the vessel was took into deeper water and accessed for damage before being towed into Maghery slipway and handed over to the awaiting Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team
    Lifeboats’ returned to base and made ready for next tasking.

    LNR paged at 18.11 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard. Lifeboats tasked to a 24ft cruiser with 2 persons on board which had lost steering, the vessel was approx 1 mile east of the battery harbour. Lifeboat launched and quickly located the vessel. A tow was commenced and the vessel brought to the Battery harbour where it was moored to the jetty with the assistance of the awaiting shore crew.
    Lifeboat returned to base and made ready for the next tasking.

    While dealing with the previous Callout 695 one of our Lifeboats was diverted to deal with another vessel in need of assistance in the area of Kinnego Bay.
    The lifeboat provided assistance before returning to base and made ready for the next tasking.

    LNR tasked at 19:33 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a 22ft boat with two persons onboard having engine trouble located west of Ram’s island
    Lifeboats launched and proceeded in the direction of Ram’s Island. Casualty vessel quickly located and assessed before commencing a tow into Sandy Bay marina
    When we arrived in Sandy Bay marina we were met by the Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team and handed over the casualty vessel to be tied to the jetty.

    Lifeboats and shore crew tasked at 01:13 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a vessel with at least 2 persons on board that reported taking on water in the Ballyronan area.
    An extensive search commenced from the eastern and northern areas of the Lough. With the assistance of the PSNI helicopter the casualty vessel was located and the lifeboats proceeded to the casualty vessel. Our crews assessed the vessel for any damage and the persons on board before securing a tow line and commencing a tow back to Ballyronan marina.
    The casualty vessel was safely secured to the jetty and those on board brought safely to shore and handed into the care of the awaiting Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team alongside PSNI
    Lifeboats and shore crews back in base at 04.00.


  • Callout 693

    LNR Paged at 20:20 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard and tasked to 12 casualties who had got into difficulty near Shane’s Castle
    Lifeboats proceeded to the area where they quickly located the casualties (9 adults and 3 children) who had made it to the shore.
    A Lee-shore Rescue was carried out by our team. They were able to get the casualties onboard the lifeboats and safely transported to Antrim marina to an awaiting shore team
    Boats returned to base at 23:00.


  • Callout 692

    Lifeboats tasked at 14:28 by Belfast Coastguard to reports of a vessel sinking at the front of Antrim Boat Club.
    Once on scene it was established a Canadian canoe had capsized with 3 persons on board. The 3 persons managed to self right the canoe and made their way into Antrim Marina shadowed by LNR.
    Once ashore the 3 persons where warmed up with a hot cup of tea and fresh warm blankets.
    Lifeboats refuelled and ready for service.


  • Callout 691

    Lifeboat’s tasked at 15:13 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to reports of a sailing dingy in trouble by Shane’s Castle.
    2 casualties where located and brought back to Antrim Marina. Lifeboats then proceeded back to the area of Shane’s Castle and recovered the dingy.
    Lifeboats returned to station, refuelled and ready for the next callout.


  • Callout 690

    LNR tasked at 17:36 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to an EPIRB Beacon activation.
    Lifeboats launched along with a shore team and carried out a search along the south of the Lough and were soon joined by Coast Guard helicopter 199 from Prestwick
    The helicopter pinpointed the signal to a waste disposal facility just outside Portadown. The Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team proceeded to the location and carried out a search for the EPIRB but were unsuccessful in locating it. With no life in danger we returned returned to base and refuelled for next tasking
    Please dispose of EPIRB’s & PLB’s responsibly and don’t just simply throw in a bin.


  • Callout 689

    At 21:34 on June 15th LNR was tasked by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to reports of a person in the water at Rae’s Wood. Lifeboat’s began a search of the area along with Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team and K9 Search & Rescue NI shore crews. Having searched the area for a prolonged period of time the search was stood down with nothing found. Lifeboats and shore crews re commence a search this morning and again nothing was found.

    While dealing with the vessel aground in the previous callout 687 our other Lifeboat was tasked to a boat taking on water in the Kinnego Bay area, all crew aboard where taken to safety and their vessel was towed to a near by jetty
    Both boats returned to base and refuelled for next tasking.

    Lifeboats tasked at 14:41 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a vessel aground at Tolan’s Flat with 2 persons onboard. Lifeboats quickly located the vessel and commenced a tow back to Kinnego Marina

    LNR Lifeboats tasked by HM Coastguard at 15:30 to a powerboat with 5 Persons onboard which had mechanical failure.
    Lifeboats located the vessel approx 1 mile north of Kinnego Bay. The vessel was towed to Kinnego Marina where it was handed into the care of Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team. Boats then returned to base and made ready for next tasking.

    Flood and Swiftwater Rescue Team tasked at 12:29 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to attend an incident in Banbridge.

    LNR Tasked at 13:25 to assist in the search for a missing person within the Antrim area. Lifeboats launched as well as our swift water rescue team.

    Lifeboat’s tasked at 16:21 by HM Coastguard to Coney Island where a male sustained injuries after a fall.
    Boat proceeded to Maghery to collect two awaiting NIAS crew and then onto Coney Island.
    Once on scene working alongside the NIAS crew we were able to get the casualty treated for pain, then stabilised and onto a stretcher where he was made ready for transport by boat back to mainland.
    Once back in Maghery the casualty was then transferred from our boat into an awaiting ambulance.
    Lifeboat’s returned to base at 20.00.


  • Callout 682

    HM Coastguard tasked LNR @ 20:47 to a report of a flare being sighted near Ram’s Island. Lifeboats search the area with nothing found. All boats returned to base and made ready for service.

    At 01:01 LNR was tasked by HMCG at the request of the PSNI.
    Swift water Crews from all 3 stations were tasked to the Antrim area and searched for a few hours. After a short break the crews continued conducting a search with the aid of the PSNI air support unit until 12:30 before being stood down.
