  • Callout 679

    Lifeboats paged today at 14:26 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to reports of Kayakers in difficulty in the Antrim Bay. Once on scene, 2 people were rescued and brought back to Loughshore Marina in Antrim. Both casualties received First Aid treatment by our team medics and handed over to our colleagues in Northern Ireland Ambulance service and Lough Neagh Coastguard Team.
    All boats returned to base and made ready for service.

    At 10:02am, Lifeboats were tasked by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to our designated rendezvous points in relation to an aircraft declaring an emergency.
    With the aircraft landing safely, all lifeboats where stood down and returned to base and made ready for service.

    HM Coastguard tasked LNR @ 21:00 to a vessel in need of assistance near Skane Flat.
    LNR lifeboats launched and proceeded to the area where the casualty vessel was located and following an inspection a towline was connected to the vessel and it was towed safely back to shore.
    Lifeboats returned to base and made ready for the next tasking.

    HM Coastguard tasked LNR @ 22:40 to a vessel in need of assistance near Ram’s Island.
    LNR lifeboats launched and proceeded to the area to provide assistance.

    Lifeboats tasked by Belfast Coastguard at 23:07 to reports of a boat with 5 person on board possibly in the area of Ram’s Island. Lifeboats stood down shortly after when the vessel was located and confirmed to be safe

    HM Coastguard tasked LNR @ 11:44 to two vessels in need of assistance near Toome.
    LNR lifeboats launched and proceeded to the area where the casualty vessels were located and provided assistance including refloating one of the vessels.
    Lifeboats returned to base and made ready for the next tasking.

    LNR paged at 12:51. Assistance no longer required and stood down.

    HM Coastguard tasked LNR @ 11:04 to a vessel in need of assistance.
    LNR lifeboats launched and proceeded to the area where the casualty vessel was located and following an inspection a towline was connected to the vessel and it was towed safely back to shore.
    Lifeboats returned to base and made ready for the next tasking.

    Lifeboats tasked by Belfast Coastguard at 18:43 to reports of a broken down Jet ski on the eastern shore of Antrim bay.
    Antrim Bay Lifeboat located the Jet-ski with 1 person on board and towed it into Antrim Marina.
    Lifeboats returned to base and made ready for the next call.


  • Callout 669

    Lifeboats tasked by CGOC Belfast at 17:33. This was to reports of an overdue jet ski with 1 person on board. Information received indicated the jet ski launched at Antrim Marina and had not been seen for over 2 hours.

    Lifeboats from Antrim bay, Ardboe and Kinnego as well as our colleagues from the Lough Neagh Coastguard launched and searched along the western and northern shores of Lough Neagh. Whilst searching the northern shore The casualty and jet ski where located in the Shane’s Castle area. The casualty was brought onboard the Antrim Lifeboat and transported swiftly to Antrim Marina, where first aid was administered until our colleagues in NIAS arrived. Lifeboats then went and recovered the sunken jet ski. Unfortunately the Jet ski had run aground and began to take on water.

    All Lifeboat’s returned to base and made ready for service.


  • Callout 668

    In the early hours of this morning Lifeboats tasked by CGOC Belfast @ 01:53am to attend two vessels ran aground with 4 people onboard in Sandy Bay.

    Lifeboats arrived on scene and made contact with the two vessels, crew were faced with difficult conditions with strong winds creating large swells blowing onshore in an area with very little depth,

    Both boats where freed from the rocks and able to be maneuvered by the lifeboats and taken to safety in the nearby sand quay,

    2 people stayed with their boat while the other 2 people were transferred by lifeboat to the awaiting hands of the Coastguard team in Sandy Bay

  • Callout 667

    Crews tasked @ 15:56 to the River Bann to a possible person in the water at Bannfoot.

    Two lifeboats plus Swift and flood water teams from Ardboe/Kinnego along with two flood response boats tasked to the scene with shore crew also arriving by van,

    Arriving on scene we met up with the Coastguard, a search of the river and around the river mouth was carried out while shore crew checked along the river banks,

    However nothing was found and lifeboats where stood down and returned back to base.


  • Callout 666

    Lifeboats tasked @12:39 to an 8m Rib which had ran aground near the Hog Point.

    When lifeboats arrived on scene a vessel from Toome Eel Fishery’s had commenced a tow, the tow was then handed over to the lifeboat which proceeded into Kinnego Marina and met by awaiting crew

    Lifeboats then returned to base and made ready for tasking.

  • Callout 663 Update

    LNR and other statutory agencies under the direction of PSNI/POLSA have been heavily involved for the past 31 days in an ongoing search for a missing person who is believed to have entered the river Blackwater in Moy town.

    After conducting extensive search operations on the river Blackwater throughout the past 31 days, this afternoon our crews located a body and had the difficult task of recovering it from the water along with our partner agency CRS.

    LNR wishes to place on record our sincere thanks to all our agency colleagues involved for all the hard work, dedication and commitment throughout the search operation.

    The Board of Directors and Volunteers of LNR wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased.

    Lifeboats tasked by CGOC Belfast @21:47 to a 26ft vessel which had lost steering one mile away from Church point with 5 persons on board.

    Lifeboats launched and quickly located the vessel, when arriving on scene the 2 adults and 3 children all wearing PFDs were ok and happy for us to commence a tow.

    Once the tow line was in place the vessel was towed to the Battery Harbour and lifeboats where made ready for next tasking.

    Crews paged by Belfast Coastguard at 20:12 to reports of persons in the water at Lurgan Park. Whilst on route information was received that the persons had been rescued and teams could stand down.


  • Callout 663 Update

    Ongoing Search: From Thursday 6th June 2019 LNR and other statuatory agencies under the direction of PSNI/POLSA have been heavily involved in an ongoing search for a missing person whom is believed to have entered the river Black Water in Moy town. LNR wishes to place on record our thanks to all those agencies who are involved in the search and to all the members of the general public, as well as the missing persons family for the hospitality shown to the crew under the current circumstances.

    LNR would also like to remind all members of the general public who are helping with the search, to remember the importance of water safety and to never search alone. If you find yourself in difficulty or spot anything out of the ordinary, please contact the police immediately on 999 in an emergency, or 101 in a non emergency.

    We would ask everyone to keep the family of the missing person in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

    Lifeboat’s paged at 14:54 By Belfast Coastguard to reports of a missing person in the River Blackwater in Moy town. Lifeboat’s and shore crew conducted a search operation under the direction of the PSNI/POLSA. After searching late into the night nothing was found.

  • Callout 662

    Lifeboat’s tasked by Belfast Coastguard at 18:18 to Church Island on Lough Beg. It was reported that 4 people where trapped on the island due to the poor weather conditions. On arrival another vessel had the casualties and their boat on tow towards Newferry. We escorted everyone back and handed them into the care of the Lough Neagh Coastguard Team.

    Lifeboats paged at 13:52 by Belfast Coastguard to reports of a 27ft motor cruiser with engine trouble in the Antrim Bay. Once on scene, a tow was established and the boat was taken into Antrim Marina.

    Lifeboats tasked @13:32 to Coney Island, 1 adult, 2 children and two dogs where rescued from the island after getting into difficulties on their kayak.

    After initial assessment we took the casualties to Maghery slipway and handed them over to Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team

    Lifeboat returned to base.

    Lifeboats tasked by CGOC Belfast @ 11:29 to a broken down 27′ cabin cruiser adrift 1 mile north of the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre, the boat was taken under tow by the lifeboat and brought to Kinnego Marina where it was met by the Coastguard.

    Lifeboats tasked @ 18:03 by CGOC Belfast to a 27ft fishing vessel with one person onboard and his dog which had lost power and drifting towards the eastern shore. Vessel was located and a tow line was connected. Lifeboat commenced tow to the Carn Quay on the western shore.
    Upon arriving at the Carn Quay the vessel was safely moored and the crew handed into the care of the awaiting Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team

    Lifeboats returned to base and made ready for tasking.

  • Callout 656

    Lifeboats tasked by CGOC Belfast @ 10:07am to a 28ft fishing vessel with 2 persons on board which had lost power approximately 1 nautical mile south of Cranfield Bay. Due to information that the casualty vessel was drifting towards shore all lifeboats were launched. A short time later the casualty vessel was located 1 nautical mile south of Conns Point. The vessel was inspected, a tow line connected and the lifeboat commenced a tow to the Battery Harbour.
    Upon arriving at the battery harbour the vessel was safely moored and the crew handed into the care of the waiting Lough Neagh Coastguard Team.

    All units stood down, returned to base where they re-staged equipment for the next tasking.


  • Callout 655

    Lifeboats tasked by CGOC Belfast @ 10:29am to a report of 2 persons & a dog stranded on Tolans Flat in adverse weather conditions. LNR Lifeboats responded along with shore crew. The Kinnego Lifeboat proceeded to the island and extracted the casualties and landed them at Gawleys Gate, they were then handed into the care of the Lough Neagh Coastguard team whom was waiting on shore. All units then stood down and returned to base and re-staged ready for the next tasking.


  • Callout 654

    HM Coastguard tasked LNR @ 17:45 to reports that a motor cruiser with 5 persons on board hit rocks and was in difficulty close to Gawleys gate.

    Our lifeboats launched and proceeded to the area to commence a search, the casualty vessel was located on the lee shore close to Tolans flat, due to the poor weather conditions and poor depth a lee shore rescue was implemented using both the Kinnego and Ardboe lifeboats.

    Following an inspection of the vessel and consent from the skipper on board, the casualty vessel was towed off the shore and into deeper water. The Ardboe lifeboat then disconnected its tow line and came alongside the casualty vessel where all casualties were transferred on board and brought to safety. The Kinnego lifeboat continued to tow the casualty vessel back to Kinnego Marina..

    The vessel and persons on board were handed into the care of the awaiting LNR shore crew and Coastguard team.

    All units were then stood down, returned to base and prepared for the next tasking.

  • Callout 653

    At 16.19 HM Coastguard tasked LNR to reports that a sailing vessel had capsized in Toome bay and 2 persons were in the water, the first informant then lost sight of the persons and their vessel.
    Our lifeboats launched and proceeded to the area to commence a search. With no immediate sightings, shore crew also responded in a rapid response vehicle and commenced searching various shore locations around the Toome bay.
    Our Lifeboats then observed persons on shore (in a fisherman’s quay), our shore crew were directed to the location and were able to confirm that this was the casualties we had been tasked to. With our Coastguard colleagues arriving on scene a short time later it was confirmed that all was well, and as no medical assistance was required Belfast Coastguard were happy to stand down all LNR units.

    All units returned to base and prepared for the next tasking.

    The first informant did the correct thing by contacting the Coastguard, if you believe someone is in trouble or distress on the water, do not hesitate to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.


  • Callout 652

    At 19:19 HM Coastguard tasked LNR to reports of a broken down vessel with 6 persons on board, the vessel was reported as being approx. 1 mile outside Oxford Island.
    Both the Ardboe and Kinnego lifeboats launched and located the casualty vessel close to Padian.
    Following discussions on scene it was decided that the Ardboe lifeboat take 5 persons on board the lifeboat and bring them directly to shore whilst the Kinnego lifeboat would tow the casualty vessel with its skipper back to Kinnego marina.
    The casualty vessel and all persons on board brought safely to shore and handed into the care of our Coastguard colleagues.

    Lifeboats then stood down, returned to base and prepared for the next tasking.


  • Callout 651

    HM Coastguard tasked LNR @ 20:20 to search for a cruiser that had run aground close to the Castlebay area, the vessel was reported as having 5 persons on board – 4 adults and 1 child.

    LNR’s lifeboats swiftly launched and proceeded to search for the casualty vessel, a short time later the vessel was located,

    LNR crew checked that there were no injuries to those on board and the vessel was assessed for any visible damage. Following this assessment a towline was connected and the vessel was brought safely to shore.

    LNR crew then handed the vessel and those on board into the care of the awaiting Coastguard team on shore.

    Lifeboats stood down, returned to base and made ready for the next tasking.
