For emergencies on Lough Neagh and it’s tributary rivers call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Callouts

  • Callout 441

    At 20.03 AILB was tasked to a vessel which had run aground near Coney Island. KILB was on standby and AILB proceeded to the scene and towed the vessel to Roskeen Point. KILB was stood down at 20.41.


  • Callout 440

    At 14.34 KILB was tasked to search for a mast and rigging which had broken off a sailing vessel north of Rams Island. KILB searched the area but nothing was found. AILB requested KILB to proceed to way point 15 to assist towing  the casualty vessel. KILB accompanied AILB to the Battery Harbour then returned to base at 17.15.


  • Callout 439

    At 17.05, KILB and AILB were tasked by the Coastguard to a fishing boat which had drifted onto rocks south of Kells Point. AILB assisted the fishing boat into Wylies quay while KILB stood by. Both boats then returned to base at 18.30.


  • Callout 438

    At 09.15, KILB and AILB were tasked to a fishing boat with 2 POB which was adrift at the entrance to Moyola River. The vessel managed to make its way to a local sand quay and both lifeboats returned to base at 10.30.


  • Callout 437

    At 18.00 LNR was tasked by Coastguard to search for a 27′ McGregor sailing boat with 3 POB. The casualty vessel was reported to have broken their sail and also engine failure in the vicinity of Ardboe Point.
    KILB was on standby while AILB and Support 1 carried out an extensive search. The casualty vessel was located 1 mile east of 3 islands on the north shore, in 6′ of water.
    Support 1 took the occupants on board and transferred them to Ballyronan Marina while AILB took the casualty vessel under tow to Ballyronan Marina.


  • Callout 436

    03.50. Members of Kinnego crew were tasked to search the Kinnego Marina area for a young teenager who had a head injury and had been pulled from the water by Coastguard volunteer Eddie Magee. Eddie had been staying on his boat overnight and had heard a group of youths in distress. He went into the water and pulled one of them out. The youth then ran off and a search was then carried out by members of LNR, the Coastguard and the PSNI. He was located at 04.15 and brought to Kinnego Lifeboat station where he was treated for hypothermia and a head injury. He was then brought to hospital by ambulance. Two other teenagers were found nearby who had also entered the water and were suffering from the cold. Ardboe lifeboat was also tasked and had arrived at Tolands flat en-route to help with the search when it was stood down.


  • Callout 435

    At 18.00hrs AILB & KILB where tasked by MCA to a Princess Cruiser adrift between Gawley’s Gate & Kinnego. The Vessel was located half a mile South of Toland’s and taken in tow back to Kinnego, a crew member was put aboard the casualty Vessel for the duration of the recovery.


  • Callout 434

    20.40hrs AILB & KILB where tasked to find an overdue boat that was reported returning from the Bannfoot to Kinnego, just as boats where launched the missing cruiser turned up in Kinnego Bay, having come from Gawley’s Gate


  • Callout 433

    At Midnight MCA tasked KILB, AILB and Support 1 in response to a 999 call from a boat lost and adrift. Pyrotechnics where used by AILB & KILB before the casualty was located near Croaghan Flat, there where 3 POB in a small Cabin Cruiser. The casualty was towed to Kinnego and all Lifeboats RTB at 1.10 am


  • Callout 432

    Lurgan Police requested a Missing Peron search of Kinnego Marina including the small Lake behind the Lifeboat Station. At 11.00 hrs 5 crew began a search of the Lake by wading up and down in parallel sweeps. The Lake being quite small was searched by 12.30hrs, the crew then proceeded to assist the MCA Team in searching the site when the Missing Person turned up. Crew where not paged as this was a Land based activity local to the Kinnego Station.


  • Callout 431

    A grey dinghy with 1 POB had left kinnego Marina at 16.00 and had not returned. Crews were paged at 20.35 and KILB and AILB were launched. KILB had started to search when a sighting of the dinghy was made by Kinnego Tango which was at the shore. The dinghy was seen entering Kinnego Bay and was making its way to the marina. KILB then returned to base and met up with it. Both lifeboats arrived back to base at 21.10.


  • Callout 430

    Four people were seen in water west of Rams Island after their canoes capsized. The crew were paged at 13.00 and KILB and AILB were launched. They arrived on scene to find that the casualties had been picked up by a sand barge. The lifeboats then escorted the barge to Sandy Bay. An ambulance had to be called to treat one of the casualties who was suffering from severe hypothemia. KILB and AILB were back on station at 15.00.


  • Callout 429

    A 25′ motor boat “Blue Two” with 2 POB had left the Battery Harbour at 16.30 on route to Kinnego Marina. It did not arrive and KILB and AILB were both launched at 21.00 with the support of the Police helicopter to search for the motor boat. Support 1 was also launched from Kinnego and was on its way to help with the search when the Coast Guard was contacted by the crew of the motor boat to say they had arrived safely at shore. Lifeboats were back on station at 22.40.


  • Callout 428

    KILB tasked to Valiant RIB leaving Bannfoot area with engine difficulties and 3 POB, RIB crew resolved trouble themselves but was escorted back to Kinnego.


  • Callout 427

    KILB & AILB where both tasked at 17.15 hrs to an Orkney Cabin Cruiser adrift and taking on water, 2 miles North of Kinnego. The casualty was located West of Tolands and AILB took 3 casualties on board, KILB took the Orkney in tow and all where safely delivered back to Kinnego.


  • Callout 426

    On 01/02/09. Kinnego lifeboat was tasked at 12.30 to search for the warden at Coney Island who had not made radio contact to say he had arrived. Kinnego lifeboat was on the slipway when contact was made with the warden and the call-out was called off.


  • Callout 425

    On 25/01/09 to a 15′ Cruiser in trouble in Castor Bay. The two people on board were seen waving coats and appeared to be in trouble. This attracted the attention of a member of the public who phoned 999. Kinnego lifeboat was tasked at 13.30 and made it’s way from the River Blackwater where it was carrying out an exercise. Arboe lifeboat was also tasked. Kinnego lifeboat arrived on scene at 13.45. The two people on board had fixed the problem and were continuing to fish. Both lifeboats arrived back on station at 14.00.


  • Callout 424

    On 29/12/08 at 15.10 to a dinghy adrift. 10ft Plastimo RIB which was concealed on island with branches, in Kinnego Bay. 3 POB. KILB was back on station at 15.45


  • Callout 423

    On 27/12/08 at 15.13 to a 22ft yacht which was taking part in a race and had ran aground on the Six Foot Flat. There were 2 POB and the boat was towed off the Six Foot Flat and made its way to Morrows Point without assistance. KILB and AILB back on station at 16.00.


  • Callout 422

    KILB paged by MCA at 15-00hrs to report of small boat with 3 POB adrift 1 mile North of Emersons Sand Quay. After a search with darkness approaching the casualty was found near Kiltagh Point, South of Ardboe. The three crew where cold but safe, they where then towed to a local Quay.
    KILB back on station at 16.50


  • Callout 421

    (Search Continued) KILB departed at 9.35 to search the area south of Kells point along with AILB and approx 20 fishing boats. The search continued until a body was recovered by one of the fishing boats and brought to Wylies Quay. KILB then returned to station and arrived back at 12.30.


  • Callout 420

    On 01/12/08 at 21.10 to search for a man overboard from a white cruiser south of Kells Point. An extensive search was carried out by KILB and AILB with the help of Police 44 which provided search light. Local fishing boats also helped to search the area while the Coastguard, Cookstown Fire and Rescue Service and local residents provided shore crew. Recovery operation was declared and lifeboats and local fishing boats searched the area until 02.05. All boats then stood down and arrangments where made to return to the scene later that morning.


  • Callout 419

    On 25/11/08 at 20.15 to meet the owner of a 23′ Scarab sports boat which was adrift off the River Bann mouth. S1 proceeded to the Bann mouth where there was no sign of the owner or boat. Tasked by Coast Guard to search around Coney island where there was no sign of the boat. Then search to Way Point 19. Search was then called off and S1 was back on station at 22.30


  • Callout 418

    On 08/11/08 at 14.45 to a white rib “Osprey Ranger” which had lost power off Discovery Centre. KILB was tasked and the rib was brought back to Kinnego Marina.


  • Callout 417

    On 12/10/08 at 18.55 to search for a jet ski with two persons aboard which had not returned to Gawleys Gate where it had launched. PSNI Helo reported sighting of two persons on Rams Island. AILB arrived first and collected the casualties and brought them to Crumlin Marina where they were met by Kinnego Tango. KILB searched for the jet ski and was later joined by AILB and S1. Jet ski was found but was badly damaged and full of water. Returned to station at 20.40.


  • Callout 416

    On 02/08/08 at 17.00. CoastGuard rang at 17.05 to say that a man had got out of the water himself and to stand down.


  • Callout 415

    On 01/08/08 at 12.15 to a jet ski which had broken down between kinnego and Morrows Point. The casualty was located off Hog Park and was taken under tow by KILB back to Kinnego. Back on Station at 13.45.


  • Callout 414

    On 28/07/08 at 13.45 to a boat off Rams Island. The boat had lost its rudder and was sinking fast. KILB arrived shortly after AILB which was alongside the sinking boat taking the 5 occupants aboard. AILB then proceeded to Crumlin Marina where they were met by Kinnego Tango. Boats back on station at 15.50.


  • Callout 413

    At 16.30 on the 21st July KILB responded to small fishing boat aground on Tolans at the mouth of Kinnego Bay. The Boat was safely towed back to origin.


  • Callout 412

    At 15.30 on the 21st July KILB was tasked to a stranded jet ski. The Ski had fouled in weed, KILB towed it to deeper water and the jet was cleared by an LNR crew member. The Ski then made its own way back to Kinnego.
