For emergencies on Lough Neagh and it’s tributary rivers call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Callout 523

At 5:40am. LNR was tasked by HMCG to a report of a cruiser, 1 person on board which had lost power (prop damage) approx 1 to 2 miles south of Rams Island. LNR was quickly on scene to find the casualty in fact east of rams island. Lifeboat crew along with the Lough Neagh Coastguard team decided due to its area of difficulty, depth and a strong lee shore wind at the time, and with the vessel sitting hard aground meters from shore, it was best to leave the vessel until more favourable weather conditions. Reluctantly and eventually after many attempts to self rescue the Coastguard team managed to talk the casualty to shore. LNR were stood down by Coastguard and returned to base at 8:50am.
