Today LNR, NIFRS & HMCG concluded a joint Exercise at Mulhollands Sand Quay. The scenario was a simulated fire on board the Sand Barge, there where persons reported and units turned out from Portadown and Lurgan. Firefiighters donned BA equipment and entered a smoke filled confined space to fight the fire and retrieve casualties. Suddenly a “Firefighter Emergency” was declared as a Firefighter accidently went overboard. LNR was tasked by the MRCC and was at the scene in minutes. The ILB and crew quickly assessed the situation and successfully retrieved the simulated Firefighter from danger.
This was a highly successfull demonstration of inter-agency co-operation, many lessons where learned and connections made between between the emergency responder groups represented.
