At 0700hrs the Lough Neagh Sand Barge “Sunrise” struck rocks near wpt17 on the Western Shore. The crew managed to escape, we believe to another vessel. The Liferaft deployed.

The MCA where not informed at the time and no Lifeboats where paged. AILB however carried out an assessment of the wreck and the details passed to Bregenz House where an Environmental Response is being
co-ordinated. The wreck has approx 1000 litres of diesel oil on board which appears to be leaking badly.
AILB also managed to mark the site of the wreck as a Safety to Navigation precaution.
