For emergencies on Lough Neagh and it’s tributary rivers call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

    Lifeboats paged @19.31 and tasked to a speed boat run aground in the Tolands flat area with 3 adults, 2 children and a dog onboard.
    Lifeboats arrived on scene and were able to make sure everyone in the casualty vessel was ok.
    A tow line was deployed and once the tow commenced the vessel was taken to Kinnego marina and tied up safely alongside the jetty .
    Lifeboats returned to base, refuelled and made ready for next tasking.

    LNR paged at 16:49 to reports of a boat with engine problems. Stood down shortly afterwards.

    Lifeboats paged at 13:28 and tasked to a broken down speed boat approx two miles from Ardboe point with 5 persons on board.
    The skipper of the broken down boat was able to provide a latitude and longitude which made locating them a lot easier as the visibility was poor.
    Lifeboats arrived alongside the casualty vessel and made sure everyone was ok before commencing a tow back to Kinnego marina and tied up to the jetty
    Lifeboats returned to base an made ready for next tasking.


  • Callout 736

    Lifeboats paged at 8.50am. Coastguard had received a call from a concerned member of the public that had seen a submerged speed boat with potential casualties in the water in Castor Bay.
    Lifeboats quickly made way to the area and located the vessel which was close to the shore but had taken on water. On initial search no casualties appeared to be in the water.
    Crew moored the lifeboat at a nearby fishing quay and searched the shoreline where they found parts of the boat with a few other items including life jackets.
    Further information came from coastguard that the occupants of the boat had run aground last night and notified the PSNI but didn’t contact coastguard.
    Lifeboats towed the speed boat into the local fishing quay and made way back to base.

  • Callout 735

    Lifeboats paged at 20.26 to a 30ft cruiser with 6 adults and 4 children on board that was broken down north of Rams island.
    Lifeboats quickly launched and proceeded to the area and came across the boat west of Rams island.
    Everyone was safe onboard the vessel, so a towline was set up and tow commenced to Sandy bay marina.
    Once we arrived at Sandy bay the boat was safely tied up along the jetty
    Boats returned to base, refuelled and made ready for next tasking.


  • Callout 734

    Tasked to a broken down boat with 2 children, 3 adults and a dog onboard.
    The vessel had been making its way from the Battery harbour to Gawleys gate when it broke down.
    Lifeboats quickly launched and carried out a search for the broken down boat in rough conditions and large swells. It had drifted quite a few miles of course.
    Once located a crew member went aboard to check on the casualties and transferred one adult onto the lifeboat to be brought to shore.
    The other lifeboat rigged a tow and brought the vessel to Maghery (due to wind direction and large swells this was the safest option) and handed over to the awaiting Coastguard team.
    Lifeboats returned to base, washed and refuelled for next tasking.


  • Callout 733

    Lifeboats tasked at 18:42 to search for a vessel with 3 adults on board. The vessel had lost propulsion and was drifting in Toome bay.
    Lifeboats launched and proceeded to the area, whilst arriving on scene and locating the casualty vessel another boat from a local quay had seen the vessel drifting and proceeded towards them.
    They contacted our lifeboat and were able to assist by bringing a LNR crew member with equipment to the drifting vessel to assess. Once alongside the casualty vessel a towline was connected, and the casualty vessel brought to deeper water where the member of the public offered to take the vessel on into their nearby quay.
    It was decided that this was the best course of action, and the skipper of the casualty vessel was happy with this. Once safely in the quay and moored to the jetty, our colleagues from the Lough Neagh Coastguard team made their way to the quay to assist.
    Our crew member and equipment were then brought back to the lifeboat where the lifeboat returned to base. Lifeboats were cleaned and refuelled ready for the next tasking.
    We would like to take this opportunity to thank those members of the public who assisted in this tasking, both on the water and on shore. Their assistance was greatly appreciated.


  • Callout 732

    Lifeboats tasked at 19:24 to search for a vessel with 2 adults and 2 children on board. The vessel had engine difficulties and was blown towards a shoreline. The vessel was unsure of their exact location but gave as much information as possible for our crews to commence a search, lifeboats proceeded to search from Hog Park Point and and from Kinnego marina.
    A short time later our lifeboats located the vessel and proceeded towards it, made contact and were able to take the crew on board the lifeboat and tow the vessel safely to Kinnego marina.
    Lifeboats returned to base where they were cleaned and refuelled ready for the next tasking.


  • Callout 731

    Lifeboats paged at 16:43 and tasked to an 8 metre Cruiser with 5 persons on board – 3 adults and 2 children. The vessel was believed to have run aground south of Rams Island. Lifeboats launched and searched the area but with nothing seen, further information was relayed that the vessel was close to Tolans flat. The lifeboats made best speed to the area and located the casualty vessel hard aground. 2 adults and 2 children were taken on board our lifeboat and brought directly to shore and handed into the care of our awaiting shore crew. Our other lifeboat brought the casualty vessel with 1 adult remaining onboard to deeper water and escorted it back to Kinnego marina where it safely moored to the jetty.
    All boats and equipment were cleaned, refuelled and made ready for the next tasking.


  • Callout 730

    Lifeboats paged by coastguard at 19.18. Tasked to a boat run aground south of Coney Island.
    Boats launched and quickly located the vessel on the way to Coney. Crew were deployed with a tow line to try and refloat the vessel. A tow line was attached to the stern of the vessel and was able to be refloated into deeper water.
    The vessel was then checked over to make sure it was safe and was able to make its own way back.
    Lifeboats returned to base @21.15, refuelled, washed and made ready for next tasking.


  • Callout 729

    Lifeboats paged at 16:04 by Belfast Coastguard to reports of a 30ft boat aground in the area of Cranfield.
    As the lifeboats approached Cranfield, further communication was received that the vessel was west of Skaddy.
    Once on scene, a shallow water rescue was performed. The boat was then towed into deeper water, where an assessment of the vessel was carried out.
    After inspection, It was decided we would take the vessel under tow into Ballyronan Marina.
    The vessel was moored safely onto its jetty and all Lifeboats returned to base.
    Lifeboats were cleaned, refuelled and ready for service.

  • Callout 728

    Lifeboats paged at 22.04 by Belfast Coastguard to a broken down speedboat near Gawleys gate with 4 persons on board.
    Lifeboats quickly launched and proceeded to the area to find the broken down vessel. Once alongside the boat a tow line was attached. The broken down boat was then taken to Sandy Bay marina and tied up alongside the jetty by the awaiting coastguard team onshore.
    Boat returned to base at midnight, refuelled and made ready for next tasking


  • Callout 727

    Lifeboat Paged for the 2nd callout of the day at 1900 hrs to a boat run aground coming into Kinnego bay. Crews quickly arrived on scene and got the casualty vessel refloated. A tow line was attached and the vessel towed into safe water.
    The engines were restarted & the vessel continued under its own power into the marina accompanied by our lifeboats. Lifeboats returned to base and made ready for next tasking


  • Callout 726

    Lifeboats paged at 9:44am by Belfast Coastguard to reports that a digger had fallen into the water in the vicinity of Ballyginniff, with 1 person trapped.
    Lifeboats made best speed and rescued 1 casualty from the digger.
    The individual was transported to Antrim Marina where medical treatment was given. The individual was then handed into the care of Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
    Lifeboats were cleaned, refuelled and made ready for service.


  • Callout 725

    Tasked at 16:43 to a small fishing vessel north of Coney Flat with one person on board.

    Lifeboats quickly responded and once on scene our crew had to carry out a lee shore rescue as the vessel had run aground.

    Once checked over for damage the vessel was able to be re-floated and the casualty taken onboard the lifeboat.

    A towline was attached an the vessel towed back to Kinnego marina to the awaiting coastguard team.

    Boats returned to base and made ready for next tasking


  • Callout 724

    LNR Paged at 19:29 and tasked to a broken down vessel in the Sandy Bay area. Crew made their way to the station to launch but in the meantime the vessel had regained power and arrived safely back to the Marina.
    Great work by the skipper of the casualty vessel, it’s always better to have us on standby than to leave it too late to call for help and end up in danger.


  • Callout 723

    Lifeboats tasked at 14:21 to a vessel that lost power south of Coney Island. On scene, crews carried out a lee shore rescue & recovered the vessel to deeper water before setting up a tow. The casualty vessel was brought to Kinnego & handed over to Lough Neagh Coastguard team.


  • Callout 722

    Lifeboats were tasked at 15:21 to reports of a jet ski stationary for sometime in the water in the vicinity of Gawleys Gate. One person in the water & one on the ski, only one wearing a lifejacket. Crews were dispatched and upon arrival on scene a local fisherman had managed to gather the casualties into his boat. LNR accompanied them into Gawleys Gate and facilitated the handover to the NIAS incident commander.
    Lifeboats returned to base at 16:30.


  • Callout 721

    Lifeboats tasked 17:32 to a broken down speedboat in Antrim Bay. Once on scene a crew member walked to the casualty vessel, assessed for damage and attached a tow line.
    The vessel was then towed into Antrim Marina and recovered onto its trailer.
    Lifeboats returned to base, washed, refuelled and ready for our next tasking.


  • Callout 720

    Lifeboats paged at 17:26 to reports of a capsized Jetski with 1 person onboard.
    After speaking to the informant, it was established the person on board had swam to shore. Medical advice was given on scene.
    Lifeboats then commenced a search for the missing Jetski.
    Once the Jetski was found, it was towed to Antrim Marina, where it was assessed for damaged and recovered to its trailer.
    Lifeboats returned to base, cleaned and ready for our next tasking.


  • Callout 719

    Our lifeboats were tasked at 20:22 to a lone yachtsman who had had experienced engine difficulties just outside Kinnego bay. Upon arriving on scene our lifeboats established that the yachtsman was safe and well. The vessel was able to continue for a short time under its own power with the lifeboats escorting into Kinnego Bay. However, a tow was required when the vessel lost power at the entrance of the marina. The casualty vessel was brought safely to the jetty and moored before lifeboats were stood down and returned to base.


  • Callout 718

    LNR Tasked at 18:56 to a 24ft cruiser which had lost power. Estimated location was 1.5 nautical miles east of Ballyronan. Lifeboats were launched and located the vessel with 2 persons on board; who were safe and well. A towline was secured and the vessel was towed into Ballyronan marina where it was safely moored to the jetty. The lifeboats returned to base, were cleaned, refueled and are ready for the next tasking.


  • Callout 717

    LNR Tasked by Belfast Coastguard at 17:25 to carryout the retrieval of a deceased animal from the River Blackwater near the village of Caledon.
    Our Swiftwater rescue team arrived on scene and where able to bring the animal to shore. The animal was then handed over to the RSPCA.
    Teams returned to bass and made vehicles ready for next tasking.


  • Callout 716

    LNR Tasked at 19:39 by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to search for a missing person within the area of the river Maine.
    After an extensive search of the area by all lifeboats, crew were stood down and returned to base ready for our next tasking.


  • Callout 715

    LNR Tasked at @12.10pm
    Lifeboats were tasked to a 6m rib with 1 person on board which was in difficulty just off the River Bann (Bannfoot).
    The lifeboat proceeded to the area and located the casualty vessel which was anchored close to shore in shallow water.
    Due to weather conditions on scene a lee shore rescue was initiated and with the aid of a helpful fisherman (in a row boat) one of our crew along with a tow line was brought to the stricken vessel.
    A tow was commenced and the casualty vessel was brought safely to shore at the Bannfoot.
    Lifeboat returned to base 2.30pm where all equipment was cleaned and made ready for the next tasking.


  • Callout 714

    Lifeboats and SRT teams were tasked at 11:08am by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to Airfield Road Toome.

    Once we arrived at the scene, it was established a casualty needed urgent medical attention. Crews worked alongside Air Ambulance Northern Ireland , Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service to help remove the casualty from the waters edge.

    Can we take this opportunity to thank the members of the public who assisted in helping all teams from the onset of the callout.
    All boats and teams returned to base, washed refuelled and ready to be tasked.


  • Callout 713

    LNR requested at 19:00 on Jan 2nd by Belfast Coastguard to assist in an ongoing search operation for a missing person. Teams from Antrim, Kinnego and Ardboe made their way to the location.
    Already on the scene were:
    – Carrybridge RNLI Lifeboat
    – Rescue 118
    – Police Fermanagh & Omagh
    – Community Rescue Service
    – K9 Search & Rescue NI
    – Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team
    Divers along with CRS personnel were able to locate the missing person. Our teams from LNR alongside CRS made a joint effort to recover the missing person.
    Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends at this sad time.

  • Callout 712

    LNR flood and swift water teams were tasked by Belfast Coastguard at 14:11 to respond to the river Blackwater where a female had capsized in their vessel and was in difficulty near Benburb. Our teams responded immediately, whilst on route to the scene our teams were stood down as our colleagues in the PSNI were able to secure a line to the casualty and retrieve to the shore. Also on scene Air Ambulance NI. We wish the person a speedy recovery. Teams returned to base and cleaned equipment and made ready for next tasking.


  • Callout 711

    LNR Tasked at 22:07 to reports of a possible missing person in the area of Birds Island (locally known as The Rig). Person located safe and well by Lough Neagh Coastguard team and required no assistance.


  • Callout 710

    LNR tasked at 17:55 to a Bayliner with one person on board and their dog. The casualty vessel was in the area of Rams Island and experiencing engine difficulties.
    Lifeboats launched and proceeded to the area quickly locating the casualty vessel to the west of the island. When on scene one crew member boarded the casualty vessel, a tow line was prepared and the lifeboat towed the vessel safely to Sandy bay marina. When the vessel was moored the Lifeboats were stood down,
    returned to base and prepared for the next tasking.
